Day ... I have 11 days left

Today we had a new teacher named Sophia and she's very good. The class was so fun. I was disappointed it ended. also today we have now has one new person named Sarah Jane from England, Brighton, to be specific, and Lewes, to be even more specific.

After class we all went down to the Mercado de Puerto which is the Old Port where there is now muchos tiendas y mercados all ready to serve las touristas off-loading from the massive cruise ship boats coming from Buenss Aires.


It's where I found the most delicious, decadent chocolate made on the planet (Alfojores de Uruguay) and I wrote about that yesterday but my computer ate it. So maybe I can include it another day. I did ssk today if they ship to the US and la jefa dice, "Yes, you take it with you"  🤣

Also, today was a big day. I'm moving into a new private apartment. It is close to a place called Tres Cruces, which is a major transportation hub (buses) and commercial destination (super mall) and it will be awesome because they serve popcorn in el cine 🍿🎬. Photos mañana. 


A first today: my first chivito, which is a sandwich with meat and egg and some veggie things. It was pretty good. I had that because Lonely Star (Estrella Solitaria) was closed 😢 Best pollo tinga tacos del mundo.



Excited because there is an outing planned for mañana to the Museo de Juan Blanes, the Uruguayan realist painter! 

Again I am exhausted so going to say buenas noches chicos. Hasta proxima ❤️

The last day. One month flew by and so many feelings. A lot of gratitude to all the friends I've met here Silvie, Patrick, Jutta, Judy, Warren, Sara Jane, Rob, and especially my teacher these last two weeks Ana Sofia Castella one of, if not the best, teachers I've ever had. Montevideo is an enigma in a way. The local people are unusually kind, at least have been to me, very easy to know, and yetbthe city is in so much need. There are a great many homeless and the streets are cluttered with litter, which makes the experience so mixed. I will take away a lot personally. I want to have this experience again, soon, and I'm thinking Cusco, Peru. Today's final lesson Sofia concluded with a song from Jorge Derxler, Uruguayan songwriter and performer, with Emmys, an Oscar, and other awards and accolades (super interesting life).
