Day 1
Well, I'm in Uruguay and so hola from Montevideo!
The flights were basically uneventful except the 3rd leg I was freezing an opted to eat some airplane food which is not ever a good idea!
Somewhere over Honduras or Nicaragua I captured cloud lightning which was pretty cool.
At the Panama City Airport a young mother asked me the time and what transpired was my first conversation that I failed at miserably.
She's Arianne and her daughter is Clara
She lives in Piriápolis and is a behavioral therapist. When I told her what I did she screamed "Somos colegas!" Very cool
Today I also walked about 3km from the apartment to the school. It's hot about 28⁰C and probably 80% humidity. Not as bad as Costa Rica or, 😱, Missouri, but after the walk I needed a shower 🤣
Some snaps:
the apartment
the hood
Monumento a Artigas
"the projects"
la escula Academia Uruguay
La Plaza de la Independenia
A good day! The city feels old but not ancient, a bit run down but it works. My driver from the airport Raul was very cool and kept reminding me that Montevideo was safe and everyone was happy. I started to get nervous. He was cool, or genial as the locals say.
Very tired now so siesta before dinner ( my host mom has dinner at 12 or 11:30!).
Hasta pronto!
